It’s been four days since our last update. There have been numerous ups and downs, as the center works at balancing the therapy to Suzanne’s body. Like Suz said to Dr. Cervantes: “We’re in a rubber raft going down the rapids, and I’m holding on tight.” But Dr. Cervantes was quick to add, as he gently took her hand, “It will get better.”
Suzanne is up to three times a day, now, for all-over-her-body therapeutic clay packs held on her by gauze bandages, wrapped around all her body parts that are affected, and left on for three to four hours at a time. I call her a “mummy”—the nurses call her “clay woman.” (Suzanne suggested to the nurses a bathtub of clay into which she could climb. They thought about it for two seconds—actually taking her serious, then they laughed, and brought her more packs, and said to put them on).
These clay packs have had a dramatic affect on Suzanne’s arms and hands, especially in reducing almost all the swelling and pulling out of her system who knows what else. When I take the clay packs off and clean her skin, getting ready for the next batch, I am shocked at how thin and little Suzanne is without all the inflammation.
Tomorrow Suzanne will be fully engaged with another part of the therapy: the "healing power" of Castor Oil—both orally, and in an enema, and on her skin as castor oil packs. In the words of Dr. Cervantes , “…we will observe the power God’s pharmacy on your body.”
On another note, Suzanne’s nights are still long and tough and she is having coffee enemas for pain to get her through. During the days she has increased her fresh juices up to 8 a day, working toward having 13. Her food is still limited to cooked vegetables and oatmeal. Her digestive track, however, seems much calmer and we’ll gradually work up to fresh fruits, raw vegetables, salads, and the Hippocrates soup.
My Observation Blunder
By the way, I made a blunder in my last Update about Suzanne, when I said about her, that: “… starting about age 39 her immune system began to collapse and turn on her.” I was wrong, at least about her immune system.
Our immune systems do not “turn on” us, as Charlotte Gerson shared with us yesterday. Charlotte is Dr. Gerson’s daughter, an exuberant educator and champion for the Gerson Therapy and the benefits of it. She told us that our immune systems can become suppressed, they can be overwhelmed, and they can collapse, but our immune systems will not turn on us like some angry beast, consuming our bodies. It is our own knives and forks, lifestyle choices, and the many foul pollutants and chemicals that are part of our lives that weaken, over-tax, or wear out our immune systems leaving us vulnerable to the so-called “auto-immune diseases” like cancer, arthritis, diabetes, etc., etc. For some, their burdened immuned systems allow disease to catch up to them as they get older--sometimes they start out life wit h a compromiesed immune system, as it is the feeling of the three clinic doctors in Suzanne's situation.
Thus many of the categories of “auto-immune diseases” have been portrayed as “the body being at war with itself.” Charlotte Gerson believes this is false. If we give our bodies the right nutrients and create the correct bio-chemical environment, the body does have the God-given power to heal and fend off disease our whole lives. Charlote is 86 years old, has no arthritis, does not wear glasses, comes and goes as she wants, has the energy of a much younger woman, lectures, writes, does a radio program, and is a very able spokesperson for her father’s nutritional and healing cure for disease. She is the oldest, surviving patient of Dr. Gerson, having been cured from tuberculosis at age 12 by her father and has lived the therapy the rest of her life.
