Suzanne had a very rough night—she had high levels of pain in her stomach, in her knees, neck, shoulders, arms, and wrists. With a splitting headache and feeling sick—she was unable to sleep.
Then something remarkable occurred—something we are never able to do at home.
At 1:30 AM, in the midst of her suffering, I simply picked up the phone and called the nurses’ station as we were advised to do by the night physician who had just visited us a few hours before. He had invited us to call “if we needed anything.” Within minutes of our call, the doctor was at Suzanne’s bed side.
Minutes after the doctor’s visit, a nurse came to Suzanne with a “natural” stomach relaxant and an anti-inflammatory injection. Finally, Suzanne’s body calmed down and she was able to sleep near dawn.
Suz woke to a breakfast of Oatmeal (no milk) and fruit that I brought her from the dining room, and then she took a shower. She was feeling much improved. Then we met with Dr. Cervantes.
He explored deeper what the keys to Suzanne’s troubles might be and how and where they began. He invited a colleague, a physician who went to medical school in the US (as Dr. Cervantes had also done) to come and see Suzanne. He is an ultrasound specialist and brought a machine with him. They examined Suzanne together. Although they had the results of an abdominal ultrasound Suzanne had before we came to the clinic (which had been interpreted as normal), they wanted to look for themselves. Dr. Cervantes had an idea of what one of the root problems might be for Suzanne, but wanted to see an ul trasound himself to confirm it.
The bottom line: Suzanne has Colitis (inflammation of the colon) and Gastritis (inflammation of the stomach). With both of these, her bowels and stomach are nearly always in crisis. By the way (and this is BIG) no sign of a stomach tumor. What was felt through the skin in her stomach area was the stomach literally spasming, being tied into knots, because of the Gastritis.
Now, what to do about it? More on Day THREE, and what is causing all the inflammation not only in her stomach and bowels, but in nearly every joint and muscle in her body. We were given a preview by the Dr. He thinks she’s suffered from this all her life. But now, her body is in crisis from it. What to do about it? That’s why we’re here.
One interesting note: Although we’ve been doing the Gerson Therapy for nearly three months, Dr. Cervantes took her off all food and supplements except for oatmeal, oatmeal water, cooked vegetables. She has two assignments: Rest and Drink lots of Oatmeal Water.
More tomorrow.
